Abstract

This casay investigates the bridging points between the music and culture. From ethnomusicologists' point of view, culture is identified as all forms of human knowledge, creativity, values and human expressions in theit activities at personal, social, political, religious and every sphere of life. It is understood that human produce music as a constituent clement of culture. Timothy's study narrows down the connecting knots of the music and culture in light of their specific themes, issues and questions. The ethnomusicologists since decades have been raising questions on urban and predominant music, their role in religious life, the economics of music, gender and analyzing music as the prime tool of transformation of musical features. It also discusses the use of technology, influence of music on politics, and the consequences of migration, diaspora and globalization on music.
