Humayun Ahmed is one of the most influential Bengali writers in modern times. His works are not only famous for their magical realism, but also widely loved for their outstanding character creation. The unfortunate ordinary people is a representative character image in Humayun's short stories. Humayun is good at describing characters from language, psychology, action and other aspects, and making a comprehensive description of the characters, and deeply analyzing the characters' humanity, personality, psychology, fate, etc. He is good at using plain tone and plain narrative rhythm to outline the tragic tone of the story. This contrast in form, content and emotion leaves a deep impression on readers and produces a shocking "empathy" effect. Based on the text analysis of Humayun's short stories, this paper selects "unfortunate ordinary people" as representative classic characters in Humayun's short stories, tries to summarize the characteristics of the characters, and preliminarily explores his character creation techniques.
