Humayun Ahmed is one of the most influential Bengali writers in modern times. His works are not only famous for their magical
realism, but also widely loved for their outstanding character creation. The young man in love is a representative character image
in Humayun's short stories. Humayun is good at describing characters from language, psychology, action and other aspects,
and making a comprehensive description of the characters, and deeply analyzing the characters' humanity, personality, psychology, fate, etc. He is good at use of the first-person perspective to shape the image of young men in love, describing the tragic story with plain tone. This contrast in form, content and emotion leaves a deep impression on readers and produces a shocking "empathy" effect. Based on the text analysis of Humayun's short stories, this paper selects “young man in love” as representative classic characters in Humayun's short stories, tries to summarize the characteristics of the characters, and preliminarily explores his character creation techniques.
